Mohawk women's volleyball couldn't find their footing during an exhibition match against the St. Clair Saints, losing 4 straight sets (20-25, 18-25, 21-25, 14-25).

The Mountaineers came into the contest having won three straight in preseason, including two victories over the OUA's Windsor Lancers and Western Mustangs.

Head coach Matthew Schnarr recognized the loss to the Saints as a learning experience.

"I wouldn't call it a tough loss, we just didn't show up to play tonight," Schnarr said. "I think we can be humbled a little bit. I hope the girls use this as an experience they didn't enjoy and that we can turn it around for next game."

Despite the loss, Schnarr had some positive notes to say about Mountaineers Julia Watson.

"Julia did well," he said. "I thought she had a good match. She's in her last year so I know it's important for her to show up every night."

Watson in three sets had 13 kills.

Mohawk looks to tighten up their defence before their next match.

"We need to work on our digging. We didn't play any defence tonight," Schnarr said. "We're definitely going to work on a lot of defensive intensity strategies and we'll go from there."

Mountaineers continue exhibition play on Nov. 17 when they face the Humber Hawks at home at 6 p.m.
