Taylor Brisebois named to the OCAA’s Coach 2 Coach – Mentorship Program

Women's volleyball assistant coach Taylor Brisebois has been named to the Coach 2 Coach – OCAA Mentorship Program.

The OCAA Mentorship Program aids in the development of new coaches with "consistent 1-to-1 support, ongoing professional development, access to sport experts and peer network inclusion, all built around a dedicated learning framework."

Brisebois had an impressive college career followed by a pro career overseas and enters her second year as an assistant under Matthew Schnarr's coaching staff.

Brisebois says the Mentorship Program will provide her the necessary resources to continue developing as a coach.

"What made me interested in the OCAA Mentorship Program was the support system behind it. I knew they were going to provide lots of resources to help me further develop my coaching portfolio and with Matt Schnarr as my mentor I knew I would be in good hands," says Brisebois, a Bolton, Ontario native.

Brisebois spent five seasons at McMaster University where she won an OUA Championship in 2013-2014. During her time with the Marauders, she was also named a First-Team OUA All-Star and a Second Team OUA All-Star.

Following her college career in Hamilton, Brisebois took her talents to Europe where she played three professional seasons. She was well travelled during those three years, spending one season in Denmark, one in Germany and closed out her career in Sweden.

Brisebois is roughly two years removed from competing at the pro level and that experience is a huge asset as she transitions into the coaching world. Although it's her second season on staff, it will be her first year coaching during an OCAA season.

Brisebois says Schnarr, head coach of the women's volleyball team, will be a key component in her development through the Mentorship Program.

"I'm hoping to take in a lot from Matt Schnarr as he will be my mentor the whole way through. We will be working close together and I'm excited to learn from him and with him. He has many years of experience and a love for the game that is simply contagious," added Brisebois.

There's lots to look forward to for Brisebois with this recent announcement, as well as her first OCAA season with the Mountaineers right around the corner. Along with that, the Mountaineers announced earlier this week there would be another Brisebois joining the athletic department's staff.

Taylor's sister, Danielle Brisebois, was hired this past week by the Mountaineers as the Varsity Home Game Operations Lead. The pair have quite the volleyball resume and now you'll be able to catch both at the DBARC Gym for all volleyball home games.

The women's volleyball program takes great pride in the coaching staff they've assembled and this additional piece of development for their most recent addition will only help strengthen the program and allow the team to continue contending for medals.
