Giannini named OCAA Coach of the Year; three named conference all-stars

Mohawk Mountaineers women's soccer received significant honours at the OCAA year-end banquet highlighted by Paul Giannini winning OCAA Coach of the Year.

Giannini was also named OCAA West Division Coach of the Year after the team finished with a 5-0-5 record, improving from a one-win season in 2021.

"It's a huge honour," Giannini said. "There are so many quality coaches in our conference and in Ontario, so to get it is huge, especially in our second-year."

Second-year athlete Abigail Woods (Paris, ON) was named OCAA First Team All-Star, while teammates Paige Epp (Grimsby, ON) and Alyssa Glasbergen (Burlington, ON) were named OCAA Second Team All-Stars.

Giannini was proud of the three student-athletes for their success.

"It's showing the direction the program is going so if we continue on this path, we'll continue to get better and better," Giannini said.

The team successfully advanced to the OCAA quarter-finals this year, the programs first Final 8 appearance since 2017.
