Host Mountaineers come up win-less at CCAA Nationals

Mohawk Mountaineers women's basketball fell to the MSVU Mystics 97-63 in the CCAA Nationals placement game. As the host team the Mountaineers could not salvage a win in any of their three games.

Things became challenging in the first minute of the game for Mohawk when senior guard Rachel Guanzon (Guelph, ON) exited with an injury and would not return. For three seasons Guanzon was a staple on the Mountaineer team and a leader both on and off the court.

In that same first quarter, Mohawk would turn the ball over 15 times and fall behind by 19-points. It was a deficit the team could not overcome afterwards.

Celina Chung (Toronto, ON) was named the Mountaineers Player of the Game with 20-points and 11-rebounds. Tia Stys (St. Catharines, ON) chipped in with 10.
