Mountaineers women's basketball continued exhibition play versus the Fanshawe Falcons, losing the contest 53-46.

Mohawk had a strong first half as they led Fanshawe 26-20. The Mountaineers held the Falcons to 17.9 per cent from the field in the first two quarters.

Hali Burns, Mohawk head coach, highlighted the positives from the first half.

"I think we did a really good job playing with patience, moving the ball and getting a lot of open looks," Burns said. "We were actually hitting our shots."

The tides turned in the second half with the Falcons holding the Mountaineers to 17.1 per cent shooting. An 11-point swing in the third quarter gave Fanshawe the lead and they held on the rest of the way.

"In the second half we came out and we were rushing a little with our offence," Burns said. "We were looking to get rid of the ball too early and we were just forcing too many passes and missing a lot of shots."

Mohawk's bench did outscore the Falcons 21-11, with Celina Chung leading the way with 15 points and six rebounds. Donna-Marie Borja added nine points.

The Mountaineers will host their final home exhibition game of the year on Nov. 27 versus the Humber Hawks at 2 p.m.
