Mohawk Mountaineers men's volleyball is off to the OCAA Championship tournament following a 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-18) sweep of the Durham Lords. It is the first time since the 2016-17 season the Mountaineers have advanced to the provincial tournament.

Head coach Brad McClure saw a well-played match from his team, playing consistent throughout their three-set win.

"I think we executed well," McClure said. "We came in prepared, put a lot of pressure on the service line and clicked offensively."

Mohawk's Anthony Beijes (Hamilton, ON) and Ethan May (Dunville, ON) were key offensively. contributing 11 and nine kills, respectively. Peter Pilling (St. Catharines, ON) provided his attackers with well set balls, finishing with 30 assists.

The Mountaineers will head to London, ON for the OCAA Championship tournament, hosted by the Fanshawe Falcons from Feb. 23-25.

"We are going in for the win," McClure said looking ahead to the quarterfinals. "Our team is not in at this stage of the season for any other reason."

Mohawk will play the Georgian Grizzlies in the quarterfinal match on Feb. 23. The time of the match is still to be determined. The Grizzlies defeated the Sheridan Bruins in their OCAA crossover playoff game, and finished regular season play with a 15-3 record and the first seed in the OCAA East division.
