Mountaineers men's volleyball was able to overcome a shaky first set to defeat the Fanshawe Falcons 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 25-19) and advance to the OCAA Quarterfinals.

The two teams played back and forth in the first three sets, but Mohawk was able to rally together and dominate a majority of the fourth set en route to the victory.

Head coach of the Mountaineers Brad McClure said his team played a hard fought match.

"Fanshawe always brings it so it was nice to see a response on our end to get the win," McClure said.

Both Brayden Griffith (Winnipeg, MB) and Nathan Snippe (St. Ann's, ON) led the way for the Mountaineers. Griffith had a team-high 17 kills, while Snippe provided 14 kills.

"Both men came alive in the last half of the match and sealed the win for us," McClure said.

Michael Kong (Burlington, ON) was also fantastic with 10 kills and four blocks.

With the win the Mountaineers will travel to North Bay on Mar. 12 to play the Canadore Panthers in the OCAA Quarterfinals. Start time for the match is still to be determined.
