The perfect preseason for Mohawk men's volleyball came to an end following a 3-1 (15-15, 25-21, 15-25, 16-25) loss to the Humber Hawks.

"Our biggest fault tonight was our serving," said head coach Brad McClure. "I think we were with them offensively, defensively and blocking. We just didn't get to show that transition piece as we missed too many serves in key moments."

Despite the loss, McClure highlighted Anthony Beijes performance against the Hawks.

"He came in halfway through the first set and it was an unreal performance," McClure said. "He was off sick this week and we didn't really know where he was health-wise so it was nice that he was good to go."

Beijes in four sets had six kills. Brayden Griffith also accounted for eight kills.

McClure said the Mountaineers will use this as a learning experience moving forward.

"Heading into our upcoming match, we'll build on this performance," he said. "We were with Humber for 75 to 80 per cent of the points which we'll use to transition into a complete match."

The Mountaineers men's volleyball team looks to bounce back on Nov. 20 when they head to Sheridan to play the Bruins at 3 p.m.
