Mountaineers volleyball programs began their 2021/22 OCAA exhibition schedules on Oct. 23 as they travelled to play the St. Clair Saints. Both the women and men played two matches versus the Saints.

The women split their games, winning the first match (3-2) in five sets. Mohaw dropped the second match in four sets (3-1).

On the men's side, the Mountaineers won both games comfortably in three straight sets.

Ethan May, Mountaineers outside hitter, felt good getting back to game action after not being able to compete for almost two years.

"We played extraordinarily hard, fighting for every point," May said.

The first-year athlete is looking forward to the growth of the team as the season progresses.

"Watching the team grow together as a family is what's going to help us win," May said. "Playing together and having that brotherly bond is one of the most crucial aspects in the sport of volleyball."

Both teams will continue their exhibition schedule on Oct. 30 as they return to the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre to host the Durham Lords. The women's game begins at 2 p.m. and the men will play at 4 p.m.
