HAMILTON, ON - The Mohawk Mountaineers men's soccer program is excited to announce a six-athlete recruiting class that will improve the roster in every aspect on the pitch.

"We think we've got a good group of guys coming in," said head coach Jordan Brown. "We had a little turnover on the roster with people graduating so it was important to fill those spaces."

On the backline the Mountaineers recruits include Reid Vanderwoude, Jaylen Sinclair and Todd Pearson.

Vanderwoude is a local out of Hamilton, ON where he played for the Hamilton Thunder and attended Guido de Brès Christian High School. The 6'3 athlete will add depth and height to Mohawk's centre back position.

Sinclair has the ability to play both right back or left back coming from Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Secondary in Milton, ON. He played for the Milton Magic, where he won an Ontario Cup championship in 2018.

Pearson joins the Mountaineers after having gained international experience in England playing in professional academy systems with Notts County and Lincoln United. Out of Paris, ON where he attended Paris District High School, Pearson currently plays in the League 1 Ontario men's premier division for BVB IA Waterloo.

"We struggled a little bit (last season) with conceding goals so these three having the ability to play anywhere across the backline will be solid for us," said Brown.

Brown added that the additions of Joshua Drzewicki and Ahmed Elmobark will provide both energy and depth in the midfield for Mohawk.

Drzewicki and Elmobark are both locals with the former being from Ancaster, ON and the latter from Hamilton. Drzewicki attended Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary and played for Hamilton Serbia at the club level.

Up front the Mountaineers have added striker Nicholas Bocian from Mississauga, ON. Bocian attended Loyola Catholic Secondary and played club for Stella Rossa FC.

"Nick is going to come in and play across the topline, and hopefully contribute goals for us," Brown said.

Vanderwoude will come to Mohawk to study General Business, Sinclair will enroll in Construction Engineering, Pearson will enter into the General Arts and Science program, Drzewicki and Elmobark will study Mechanical Engineering and Bocian will enroll into the Business program.
