Mountaineers comeback falls short; play for bronze on Sunday

A tough shooting night was the difference in the OCAA semifinals as Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball fell to the George Brown Huskies 93-80.

The Mountaineers never held a lead as the Huskies immediately jumped out in front. After taking a 9-7 advantage with 5:12 left in the first quarter, George Brown would lead the remainder of the game.

In the fourth quarter the Huskies extending their lead to a game-high 25 points. The Mountaineers would make a push late in the final quarter, getting the deficit down to as low as eight, but the comeback would fall short as time would run out.

Jerry Jr. Mercury (Scarborough, ON) had a massive 20 point and 20 rebound game for Mohawk. Cale Calura (Hamilton, ON) had 15, with Daniel Graham (Hamilton, ON) chipping in with 14, Rommel Calura (Hamilton, ON) added 12 and Raivone Young (Halifax, NS) came off the bench for 12.

The Mountaineers will play for the OCAA bronze medal on March 4 at 1 p.m.
