Mountaineers men's basketball lost 106-93 to the Fanshawe Falcons.

The offense from the Falcons was too much for the Mountaineers on this night, shooting 58 per cent from the field and 52.2 per cent from three compared to Mohawk's 39.5 per cent and 35.3 per cent.

Daniel Graham was the leading scorer for the Mountaineers, scoring 19 points, with six assists and three rebounds.

While Mohawk struggled to keep up with Fanshawe's strong offensive numbers, the Mountaineers will continue to stick with their strengths as the season progresses.

"Our strengths would definitely be our shooting ability and our transition game," Graham said. "We will be putting up a lot of shots and running the floor as much as we can this year."

In the opening quarter, the score was close with both offenses putting up big scoring numbers. The Falcons would lead 29-28.

Prior to the half, Mohawk's shooting went cold in the second quarter and they fell behind 54-42 at the break.

In the second half, Fanshawe was able to extend their lead by 10 and hold on for the win. Mohawk did find their stroke in the fourth quarter, scoring 33 points but it wasn't enough for a comeback.

Guard Rommel Calura is confident that the Mountaineers will be capable of overcoming adversity.

"I think we are a very smart team and we're still trying to figure out our roles and identity," Calura said. "Once we find that and guys begin to understand what they can control on and off the court, then we can begin to start winning games."

Along with Graham, four other Mountaineers finished the game in double digit scoring. Matt Foster had 15 and Rickey Morrison added 13, while Isaac Graham and Cale Calura came off the bench to score 14 and 10, respectively.

Mohawk men's basketball will finish exhibition play on Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. as they play on the road versus the Sheridan Bruins.
