Mohawk men's basketball were defeated by the Fanshawe Falcons 94-79 in preseason play.

The Mountaineers played well in the first half. They got to the free throw line 14 times for 12 points, but the Falcons led by four.

It became a much different story in the second half with Fanshawe outscoring Mohawk 31-15 in the third quarter.

The Mountaineers didn't show any quit in the final quarter as they chipped away at the Falcons lead, but it wasn't enough to pull out a comeback.

Brian Jonker, Mohawk head coach, said highlighted the third quarter as the games turning point.

"Offensively, we weren't good in the third quarter," Jonker said. "A lot of standing around and consequently, we didn't shoot the ball very well and we didn't get second chances at all."

Jonker added that Mohawk will work on moving the ball more offensively.

The Mountaineers did a good job holding onto the ball with only nine turnovers for the game, while forcing the Falcons to turn it over 17 times.

Daniel Graham led Mohawk with 28 points and six rebounds. The Calura brothers also provided offense with older brother Rommel dropping 12 points and six rebounds and younger brother Cale scoring 13.

Mohawk will host its final preseason game of the year on Nov. 27 in the DBARC versus the Humber hawks at 4 p.m.
