The Mountaineers men's basketball team fell 89-85 to the Sheridan Bruins in preseason action.

The first half was back-and-forth with nine lead changes as Mohawk led 40-37 at halftime after a buzzer-beating three by Daniel Graham.

The Mountaineers took the advantage after three quarters of play, but Sheridan scored 29-points in the fourth and was able to stop the Mountaineers on their last few possessions of the game to hold onto their narrow lead.

Head coach Brian Jonker is confident in his team's ability to win tough games with their shooting, but tonight the Mountaineers struggled with the three-ball shooting 30.6 per cent from beyond the arc.

"I thought we shot extremely poor, but we hung in the game," Jonker said. "We had a chance to win the game without having a good shooting night, so that makes me feel good."

Mackenzie Hart led the way for the Mountaineers with 10 points, 14 rebounds and five assists. Daniel Graham added 21 points and six assists, while Cale Calura scored 20 and Matt Foster had 19 points.

Sheridan marginally outplayed Mohawk in a game that consisted of 20 lead changes.

The Mountaineers play their next game at home on Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. versus the Fanshawe Falcons.
