Mountaineers advance to National semi-final; finish first in pool play

Mohawk Mountaineers men's curling will be playing for a CCAA medal after finishing first in round robin play with a 6-1 record. What colour medal the Mountaineers will be playing for will be determined Sunday morning in a semi-final match.

To open the final day of pool play Mohawk played the Humber Hawks in a rematch from the OCAA Championship.

The Mountaineers would jump to a 2-0 lead after the first end with the next three ends going blank both ways.

Mohawk would tack on a point in the fifth. Then in the sixth end the Hawks would get their lone point of the match. The Mountaineers would close it out with three points between the seventh and eighth ends.

In the final round robin game versus the Concordia Thunder, Mohawk showed its dominance with a 10-3 victory.

The match started with the Mountaineers up 2-1 after three ends, and then in the fourth Mohawk would add five to their lead. Another three would be added in the sixth en route to the victory.

Mohawk will now play the SAIT Trojans in the CCAA semi-final on March 19.
