Mountaineers Partnerships

Mohawk Athletics has developed unique partnerships across the Mohawk campus community to enhance the student-athlete experience.

Learning Support Centre (LSC)

Learning Support Centre This partnership provides student-athletes with an assortment of resources. With an aim towards a seamless transition from high school to post-secondary, every first year Mountaineer student-athlete meets with a Student Success Mentor (SSM). The SSM's are current Mohawk College students who have strong academic skills and study habits. They'll meet with students one on one to facilitate student success. The LSC and Athletics have also worked together to develop a unique Athletics SSM position that is specific to a Mountaineer student-athlete.

Tutoring services are also available through the LSC and can be booked through the Varsity Supervisor or Athletics SSM. Tutoring can also be booked online using the following link: https://mohawk2.mywconline.com/

Athletics Counsellor

Mountaineer student-athletes have access to a dedicated Athletics Counsellor through a partnership with the Counselling department. The Athletics Counsellor asissts in ensuring the mental health of our student-athletes and coaches and is available to meet upon request. They also deliver education sessions to the Mountaineer community in addition to posting regular wellness content.

Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (SRRO)

The Student Rights and Responsibilities Office (SRRO) works to foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that maximizes opportunities for student success and upholds the rights and rexponsibilities of Mohawk College community.

Athletics and the SRRO are working together to embody the values of the Be More campaign through the Mountaineer student-athlete experience. The Be More campaign is intended to raise awareness of our Mohawk community values and our surrounding societal expectations. We encourage our students to challenge themselves at every opportunity - to lead, inspire, get involved and become well rounded global citizens, who are able to step up and take on the challenges they will face inside and outside of the classroom.

Current project collaborations between Athletics and the SRRO include:

  • The development of a student-athlete charter
  • Bystander intervention and male allyship training, hosted by ConsentIsEverything, a gender based violence awareness program.
