Mohawk Mountaineers Athletic Communications

Media Credentials, Information & Policies

The Sports Information Office is responsible for communication, marketing, promotion and brand awareness of the Mohawk Mountaineers 10 high-performance programs. The office is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the official department website (mohawkmountaineers.com), establishing relationships with local and national media members, social media content promoting Mohawk athletics and recreation, and all other statistical and historical information related to the Mountaineers.

All interview needs with Mohawk student-athletes, coaches or staff, or usage of Mountaineer photography and media credentials for Mountaineer home games must be requested by contacting Sports Information Coordinator Satbir Singh at satbir.singh6@mohawkcollege.ca.

Media Credentials

Media and photography credentials are required to attend Mohawk athletic events. Mohawk Mountaineers media passes are issued to print, radio, photography and television media members. Credentials for one or all Mohawk Mountaineers home games should be made to Satbir Singh at least 48 hours prior to game time. Members of the media will be required to display their credentials at all times.

Media Seating

Space along the scorer table is limited at basketball and volleyball games. Priority will be given to Game Day and Sports Information staff. If space is required, media should make the request in their credential request email, however space will not be guaranteed.

Interview Policies

Media are encouraged to contact Satbir Singh to ensure that interview requests are met.

All interviews with Athletics staff, coaches and student-athletes are arranged through the Sports Information Officer. To allow for sufficient time to arrange interviews, requests must be made 24 hours in advance, if possible.

Interviews are typically scheduled before or after practice sessions so as not to interfere with the student’s time away from athletics. For post-game interviews, coaches and student-athletes will receive a 20-minute period to “cool off” before any interaction with the media. Any communication with coaches and student-athletes two-hours prior to a game is prohibited.

Photography & Videography Guidelines

Credentialed photographers and videographers may shoot at either baseline, unless having received special permission from the Sports Information Officer or the Game Day Operations Representative.

Photographers and videographers MUST NOT block the view of any broadcast cameras.

Additionally, photographers and videographers must also remain a minimum of four feet behind the baseline at all times for the safety of the student-athletes and game officials.

Space will be provided inside the David Braley Athletic & Recreation Centre for photographers and videographers to place/store equipment. Any equipment left unattended is the responsibility of the photographer or videographer it belongs too, and Mohawk Athletics is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Student Media

Mohawk College students enrolled in Broadcasting, Journalism, Photography or other related programs must also adhere to the above policies and guidelines.

If attending a Mohawk sporting event to complete a course assignment, students must contact Sports Information Officer Satbir Singh 24 hours prior to game time.

Space at home games for media members is limited and priority will be given to Game Day & Sports Information staff, and students assisting with the broadcast production.
