In 2022/2023, Matthew Ferreira enters his fourth year at Mohawk College. On September 9, 2019 he was named the ninth athletic director in school history.

AS DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS:

As a benchmark to measure the success of the Athletic Department, the Mountaineer brand has been introduced to Mountaineer Performance Indicators (MPI's). The MPI's include podium relevance, academic excellence, community impact and leadership development.

PRIOR TO MOHAWK COLLEGE:

Matt came to Mohawk College from Humber College where he served for 7 years in the Athletic Department under Doug Fox and Ray Chateau. He gained a wealth of experience handing Tournaments & Events before transitioning to the role of Community Engagement Coordinator. In July of 2016, Matt was named Manager of Lakeshore Athletics and Community Engagement and moved to the Humber South campus. In this role, he led the expansion and restructuring of Lakeshore Athletics, including the opening of a new Fitness Centre. Matt played an instrumental role in strategic planning and capital investment prioritization as well as integration of the community with introduction of the Junior Hawks Camps initiatives.

AS HEAD BASEBALL COACH:

Matthew was named a member of the inaugural Humber College men's baseball coaching staff in 2010. He was the Lead Assistant Coach from 2010-2017. Matt was named Head Coach in November of 2017. The following season was one for the ages that would cement Ferreira’s 2018 team in the history books at Humber.  In 2018, Humber Baseball earned the Triple Crown with the OCAA Divisional Pennant, the OCAA Championship, and then dominated at the NCBC National Championship. Ferreira was named the 2018 OCAA Coach of the Year.
