HAMILTON, ON – On Thursday afternoon the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) announced the 2023-24 women's and men's volleyball schedules, which will feature both Mohawk Mountaineer teams competing in 18 regular season matches.
The Mountaineers opening weekend will include back-to-back games in the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre (DBARC). Mohawk will first host the Cambrian Golden Shield on October 20 and then the Boreal Vipers on Oct. 21.
Both Mountaineer teams are coming off successful seasons a year ago, appearing in the OCAA semi-finals. Mohawk's women's team won their second medal in as many years.
The annual Super Saturday event, which is when the Mountaineers host two volleyball and two basketball games, will take place November 4 with Mohawk hosting the Redeemer Royals. The Mountaineer women will play at 6 p.m. and the men's match will begin at 8 p.m.
On Nov. 8 Mohawk will get their first opportunity against the Humber Hawks, who claimed OCAA gold last season on both the women's and men's side. The Mountaineers and Hawks will also closeout the season on February 3 inside the DBARC.
