Mohawk Mountaineers are proud to announce Irene Jaramillo and Anthony Beijes as the Athletes of the Week, in partnership with the Mohawk Students' Association, for the week of Jan. 9 – 15.
In a two match week for Mohawk Mountaineers women's volleyball, Jaramillo (Manizales, CO) was a bright spot for the team. The middle combined for 12 kills with a 37.9 kill percentage. In addition she had five digs and one block.
Beijes (Hamilton, ON) helped Mountaineers men's volleyball snap a two-game losing streak over the weekend defeating the St. Clair Saints 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 20-25, 25-15). Mohawk also nearly completed a comeback against the Redeemer Royals earlier in the week where they dropped the first two sets but climbed back to send the match to a fifth set before ultimately losing. In the two matches, Beijes had a combined 22 kills and three service aces.
