Mohawk Mountaineers are proud to announce Paige Epp and Matias Tessel as the Athletes of the Week, in partnership with the Mohawk Students' Association, for the week of Oct. 10–16.
Epp (Grimsby, ON) was a visible leader and key star for women's soccer in their final two matches of the regular season. The NCAA Division I transfer had five shots in a 1-0 win over the Sheridan Bruins, three of which were dangerous attempts on net. Epp's ability to control play versus the Bruins helped carry momentum for the Mountaineers.
In the final game of the season Epp recorded her first-ever OCAA goal in a 1-0 victory versus the Fanshawe Falcons.
Tessel (Guelph, ON) helped lead the men's cross country team to a bronze medal finish at the Centennial Invitational. Under the leadership of the second-year runner, the Mountaineers have improved every race this year and are in prime position to medal at the OCAA Championships. Tessel at the Centennial Invitational finished in 11th place – it's the second straight race he has finished 11th.
