Mohawk Mountaineers women's soccer goalkeeper Samantha DeHaan (Smithville, ON) has taken home three athlete of the week nods after being named Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.
The CCAA honour for DeHaan adds to an accolade filled week for the second-year student-athlete as she was also named Mountaineers Athlete of the Week and OCAA Star of the Week.
DeHaan has been one of the best goalkeepers this season, leading Mohawk to a 2-0-3 record through five games. This past week, she made key saves that led to a draw versus the nationally-ranked Humber Hawks and a 1-0 win over the Niagara Knights. In the match versus the Hawks, DeHaan allowed an early goal but proceeded to make four saves to keep her team in the match. She followed that performance with a seven save shutout versus the Knights that included crucial second half saves.
Mountaineers women's soccer and DeHaan are back in action tonight at Tim Hortons Field hosting the Conestoga Condors. The match begins at 6 p.m.
Entry to the game is free for spectators and Gate 3 to the stadium will open at 5:30 p.m.
