On November 8, 1969 the Mohawk Men’s Cross Country team made history when it took the OCAA gold medal at Sheridan College with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 8th place finish in the final race. It was described then by team member and runner Al Whitley as a “fantastic win by a fantastic team,” and was one of the more dominating performances by a team at an OCAA Cross Country Championship.

On the 1969-1970 team were: Bill Urie (OCAA Gold medal winner), the late Orval Anderson (OCAA silver medalist), Bob Sisler (OCAA bronze medalist), Al Whitley, Erik Kamermans and their coach, the late Al Arnold.
