HAMILTON, ON - A former Mohawk Mountaineers women's soccer student-athlete will be inducted into the Hamilton Soccer Hall of Fame on May 12, 2023.
Josie Tucceri was a standout soccer star during her time at Mohawk, helping guide the Mountaineer program to its first OCAA Championship in the 1998-99 season. Tucceri's play at the collegiate level would be celebrated as she was inducted into the Mountaineer Hall of Fame in 2006 and OCAA Hall of Fame in 2009.
Tucceri will now claim her spot into the Hamilton Soccer Hall of Fame.
Graduating from Mohawk in the Journalism and Communications Media program in 2000, Tucceri played three seasons for the Mountaineers beginning in 1997.
In her first season, Tucceri impressed immiedately as the OCAA Central West scoring champion with 12 goals in six games, including four in one game alone. Tucceri would also be named a league All-Star, while winning an OCAA bronze medal with the Mountaineers, and also being recognized as a CCAA All-Canadian, CCAA Academic All-Canadian and Mohawk's Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year.
Tucceri's second-year would be when Mohawk would claim the OCAA Championship and place fifth at CCAA Nationals. She would once again lead the Central West in scoring with five goals in five games.
Her final season in 1999-2000 would be capped by helping the Mountaineers to an OCAA silver medal.
Between 1995 and 1997, Tucceri also represented Team Ontario at the National Soccer Championships winning a gold medal in year one, a silver in her second year and a bronze in 1997.
Tucceri will be inducted into the Hamilton Soccer Hall of Fame on May 12 at the Michelangelo Banquet Centre alongside four other footballers, three builders and one former FIFA referee.
