Mohawk men's soccer played an action packed game in their first home match at Tim Hortons Field.
The Mountaineers hosted the Sheridan Bruins, who came into the match ranked first in the OCAA and third in the CCAA.
The Bruins led 3-1 late in the game, but the Mountaineers were able to claw back for a 3-3 draw.
Head coach Jordan Brown called the experience at Tim Hortons Field an amazing opportunity for his team.
"It is huge for the team to play at this stadium," Brown said. "This is the kind of venue we would like to play at more often. I told the guys to go out and enjoy it."
Sheridan got themselves on the board in the 12th minute following a Jevontae Layne goal and Norico Daley added to the lead before halftime.
The Mountaineers cut the deficit in half in the 64th minute when Amanjyot Singh found the back of the net.
"It provided a spark for the team and made sure we played strong until the end," Singh said.
Under 10 minutes later, the Bruins would regain their two goal advantage following an Anthony Wright goal.
Dominic McIntosh would lead the Mohawk comeback in the 79th minute to cut the Bruins lead to 3-2.
It was in the 81st minute that Grant Slater would score for the Mountaineers and tie the game at 3-3.
"This was a big game heading into the playoffs," Brown said. "The guys have shown they can beat anybody."
Mohawk (2-2-2) will now host a playoff game next weekend. They will play Conestoga (2-3-1) with game details still to be determined.
