The 2021/22 OCAA softball season may not have gone as planned for the Mountaineers as they missed the playoffs by one win. However, despite the 2-16 record the closeness of the team and their growth on the field was a major success point.

The Mountaineers women’s softball team returned to the diamond in Oshawa over the weekend after their home opener was rained out earlier in the week.
With three games over the course of two days, the Mountaineers didn’t receive the results they were hoping for.
The Mountaineers women’s softball team travelled to London on Saturday for their regular season opener. It was a doubleheader that saw them drop the first one 11-1 to Fanshawe and 16-0 to St. Clair in the nightcap.
The Mountaineers finished up their weekend in London on Sunday with an afternoon matchup against the Conestoga Condors. The Condors outlasted the Mountaineers 12-8 in a game that saw 32 total hits and eight errors between the two.
The Mountaineers women’s softball team took the field Saturday in St. Catharines against the Brock Badgers for a pair of exhibition games, their first of the season. The Mountaineers dropped the first game 4-0 to a well-balanced Badgers team and put two runs on the board in the second game but ultimately fell 7-2.
Like all other Mountaineers fall sports, the women’s softball team heads into the 2021-2022 season with a new coaching staff. Head coaches Erin Forman and Logan White have built a new culture around the team and will look to rebuild a program that hasn’t seen a winning season in the past ten years.
